Full Time Sales Associate/Clerk

BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of the Sales Associate I is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Duties as assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager including the following: Stocking, cleaning, ragging out goods, operating the cash register and preparing daily paperwork.
2. Responsibility for keys to store in order to open and/or close.
3. Responsible for maintaining good customer relations and giving prompt, courteous assistance to all customers.
4. Answer the telephone in a courteous fashion and direct the caller to the appropriate department.
5. Ensure the store’s appearance is clean and orderly in arrangement.
6. Responsible for janitorial duties: i.e. cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, etc. as assigned by management.

Full Time Assistant Store Manager

Reno, NV

BASIC PURPOSE
The primary function of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This position description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of the Thrift Store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Adhere to operational policies including store hours, banking procedures, including making deposits, vacation schedules and all other guidelines of The Salvation Army. This includes, but not limited to, discount policy, rag-out procedures, production/sales accountability and proper money handling.
• Maintain good customer relations: recognizing the type of service expected and hold subordinates accountable. Assist Staff and customers with questions and concerns. Resolving complaints in a courteous manner while adhering to policy.
• Assist in the training of personnel in a manner to optimize their abilities for the betterment of the operation, stressing the importance of prompt courteous assistance to all customers. This includes the recruitment of new hires, community volunteers and court appointed individuals.
• Maintain a working inventory of paperwork and supplies
• Ensure the proper material needs of the stores and the subsequent shipment of those items from the warehouse.
• Aid in submitting payroll information for store in a timely and efficient manner.
• In accordance with The Salvation Army’s standards, implement progressive discipline measures to ensure the compliance of policies and procedures. Recommend disciplinary actions, up to and including termination to supervisor.
• Report any safety deficiencies to supervisor as soon as reasonable.
• Ensure the store is clean and orderly at all times.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Full Time Antiques/Collectibles Pricer and On-Line Store Manager

BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to assist in the overall mission of The Salvation Army through the programs offered under the direction of Corps Officers, Director of Operations and Warehouse staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Process donated goods for sale in our collectibles and on-line stores.
2. Evaluate items and price according to industry standards.
3. Ensure proper cleaning and packaging prior to shipment.
4. Maintain records of hard tag items and update computer spreadsheets.
5. Keep a current inventory of needed supplies.
6. Contribute to the team effort of program participant guidance.

Full Time Processing Associate

BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to assist in facilitating the overall mission of The Salvation Army through the programs offered at the Reno Corps under the direction of the Corps Officers and the Processing Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ability to receive donated goods and process them in the most time and space effective manner.
2. Ability to sort, clean and price donated goods for shipment to the thrift stores.
3. Be able to discriminate between quality merchandise and inexpensive items, sorting in a careful manner to safeguard items.
4. Determine merchandise that should be sent to collectibles department for further processing.
5. Handle all merchandise as per policy of the processing department and The Salvation Army; discard with inappropriate or suggestive messages, cult slogans, alcohol promotions, drug abuse or humanism.
6. Must be able to operate pricing machines.
7. Must be able to read and fill orders requested by Revenue Centers.
8. Keep work area clean and orderly.
9. Be able to follow orders from supervisor without direct supervision.
10. Follow The Salvation Army policy of “In Today, Out Tomorrow”.
11. Must be able to work effectively with beneficiaries on work therapy assignment. The Salvation Army Fraternizing Policy is strictly enforced.
12. Keep records of the amount of goods processed and turn them in to the supervisor.
13. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Full Time Production Associate/Driver

Reno, NV

BASIC PURPOSE
The function of the Production Assistant IV is to assist in facilitating the overall mission of The Salvation Army through the programs offered at the Reno Corps under the direction of the Corps Officers and the Production Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan daily route based on pickups and deliveries. Routes to be established based on system in place.
• Make all scheduled calls in a timely and efficient manner. Areas of responsibility will be revenue centers and scheduled pickup calls.
• Instruct and supervise helper, remembering that this individual is a beneficiary in a rehabilitation program.
• Develop assigned routes by placing donation bags at the residences on the right and left of the pickup location.
• Ensure safety and safe handling of goods and materials being transported.
• Be responsible for the safety and security of the truck and equipment including the hand truck, blankets, etc.
• Prepare a daily inspection report as well as maintain daily driving logs. Daily inspection for water, air, oil and other items essential to maintain equipment in good condition.
• Report immediately by radio to your supervisor any accidents involving your vehicle, personal injury and/or property damage. Complete with a written report upon return to the Work Therapy Center. Keep accident reports and procedure forms in your vehicle at all times.
• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army, ensuring that all the individuals you come in contact with are treated with courtesy.
• Report immediately any problems to your supervisor through the dispatcher.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Seasonal Christmas Kettle Driver

Reno, NV

BASIC PURPOSE
To assist The Salvation Army in fulfilling its mission by assisting the Red Kettle Campaign of the Reno Corps in such a way to meet and, hopefully, succeed the campaign goal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safely transport all bell ringers to and from designated bell ringing sites in a timely manner.
2. Drop off and collect kettles from bell ringing sites
3. Ensure that bell ringers fill in their timecards as required
4. Keep extra supplies of bells, aprons, timecards and other bell ringer supplies in the vehicle.
5. To refill the gas tank as needed or communicate any needed repairs to the Corps officer(s)
6. To help check on bell ringers to make sure that they are working in the prescribed manner.
7. Report any concerns or complaints about bell ringers or from the stores.
8. Keep track of mileage.
