About the Adult Rehabilitation Program

The Salvation Army of Washoe County’s Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP) is a place of hope, healing and new beginnings. It’s dedicated to rebuilding the lives of men who are battling substance abuse, homelessness and other serious challenges. The ARP is a 70-bed facility where men partake in a six-month program designed to help them overcome dependency through structure, discipline and learning opportunities to maintain long-term sobriety. Admission to the program is voluntary and free of cost for participants. Men in the ARP receive Christian Bible study and chapel services, group and individual counseling, anger management classes, work therapy, guidance on resume writing and reentry into the community, alumni support and more.

Components of the Program

There are three main components of the program:

  1. Spiritual Support—This is the foundation of the program. Beneficiaries are required to participate in all spiritual offerings of the ARP, which are based on traditional Christian teachings.
  2. Work Therapy—Learning how to work and how to cope with the stresses of the workplace are crucial components. All beneficiaries will complete 40 hours of work therapy per week.
  3. Education & 12-Step Meetings—Beneficiaries spend time in classes to teach them about their substance abuse and are required to attend 12-step meetings both on and offsite

If you are interested in entering the program or know someone who could benefit from the program, please see the below requirements for entry:
